Daylight saving time elapsed hours calculator
Enter the start and end in one city. Compare the written clock times with the real number of minutes between the two instants.
Duration only, without deducting breaks. It does not calculate pay or interpret employment rules. Intervals must be positive, no longer than seven days, with both endpoints in 2026.
How many hours are there from 22:00 to 06:00?
In Madrid, the answer is normally eight hours. An interval across the October clock rollback lasts nine; one across the March forward change lasts seven. The date and city determine whether the interval crosses a transition.
| Madrid dates · 2026 | Local clocks | Wall-clock subtraction | Actual duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24–25 October | 22:00–06:00 | 8 h | 9 h |
| 28–29 March | 22:00–06:00 | 8 h | 7 h |
| 26–27 October | 22:00–06:00 | 8 h | 8 h |
The repeated hour counts when you cross it
Two identical written times may represent different instants during a rollback. If either endpoint is ambiguous, select the first or second occurrence. The calculator does not automatically add an hour to every interval on that date: only a transition inside the interval changes its actual duration.
Using the result
The calculation subtracts the two resolved instants in minutes. Deduct breaks separately if you are recording activity. Administrative, payroll or contractual interpretations require the source relevant to your situation. The BOE calendar supplies Spain’s scheduled changes.
